http://ywp.nanowrimo.org/ 2012 Letters About Literature Program

Letters About Literature is a program encouraging children in grades 4-12 to write a letter to the author of a book that has affected him or her in a profound way. Letters that are selected as National Winners will receive a $500 Target GiftCard, plus will secure a $10,000 Letters About Literature Reading Promotion Grant in the child's name for his or her community or school library. Letters must be submitted by Friday, January 6, 2012.

To repeat: your school library could receive $10,000 if a winning letter is written by one of your students!
There are three levels:

Two National Winners will be named for each level.

I’m an author. I wrote a book called DONUT DAYS. I have another book coming out called THE IMPLOSION OF AGGIE WINCHESTER, which lands on bookshelves in summer of 2011. After that, my novel THE VORTEX GAME will be out. And that’s about all I can plan for since the Apocalypse is supposed to happen next, and we may all need to deal with other things at that point (see also: Road, The). Other stuff? I like cheese. One time I swallowed a moth. If you want to email me, please do! I can be reached at: new(dot)zielind(at)gmail(dot)com If you’re a writer, I’d love it if you stopped by my other site chock full of writerly information: www.help4writers.com. I grew up in a town in Wisconsin called Eau Claire. It’s French for “clear water.” I thought “clear water” in French was Evian. Guess not. Read more about Lara....
